Pledge of Elegance has been growing in such a normal pace. As I get more and more visitors, I notice that my about me page does not have enough information. It does not explains of Who?What? Why? of this blog. Last night, I decided to write about why I started this blog, so I can give to my readers a more “human” feel to my blog. Lets starts with the these four questions.
Pledge of Elegance is a fashion blog that I created back in March 2017. I started sooner than that date with other blogs name. I took the opportunity to play around with blog names. I know it is a big mistake of changing names but too me, it was a free trial.
Pledge of Elegance first started as a trend alert blog. I used to write about what is trendy now or next week or even a year ahead of time. Sometimes when I write about those trends it is too late.(when I mean too late, I mean after Vogue made an article about it) The main reason of my absentee of this blog is school.
I know school is important so I decided to let you guys know that I would not be posting much. During that time, I felt my life too boring, like it is too limited. Wake up, go to school, study for four hours, sleep repeat is mainly my routine. As I am advancing with my education, I feel more stress with more pressure. Even though I do not find some thing I learn interesting at school, I try my best of making good grades.
Now that I’m back into blogging, I feel like I have a purpose in life. I could blog all day and it would not feel like a long nine page essay. You know that you found your passion when time pass by so fast while doing something you love. My passion is writing the things I love such as fashion and culture. Writing, for me, is like talking!
Now for the blog, I decided to make this blog more diverse such as style, culture, beauty, basically everything that I like in the moment. I feel like doing this will make the blog stand out and be more “authentic.” I also want to be more relatable to my readers. I decided to do this through my other experience with other blogs and fashion youtubers.
First, you admire them as you think,”Wow, she/he did all that with hard work and no help from here parents. She/he just like us-from rag to riches! She/he is like Cinderella but without marrying Prince Charming but making her/his own empire.” You want to learn more about them, so you continue reading/watching. You then discover that he/she had some help along the way.
I am not being envious or jealous of that, I’m happy for their success. What I am trying to say is that people like to be reliable to the people they look up to at the moment- no matter if it is a celebrity or a youtuber. It give them the courage the that they can do it too. It give them hope to succeed – I am one of them. I am putting my dreams into action-here in this blog. An “any normal blog” some people might say, but this is where I am going to plant my seed and I am going to water it with the purest water I can give so it can grow into a beautiful plant. As many you know, plants take time to grow and so does success; the difference with growing to be successful is that you just do not know what kind of plant you are going to get.
For example, “Jack and The Bean Stalk.” Poor Jack got three magic beans after he trades his cow. He comes home and get scolds by his mother. Pay attention to this two very important events. The bad deal trade represents the free internships, minimum wage jobs, part-time jobs, the jobs that nobody wants. The “oh, I’m just doing this job so I can get my foot on the door” gig. Jack accepted it as he thought it will help him and his mom. We accepted those jobs as we KNOW that it will give us experience and that experience will give us more opportunity to get a better job. But most importantly, to get recognition. Jack getting scold by his mother is related to our family who expect us to succeed. The story go on, the magic beans are planted and created a huge bean stalk that leads to the unlimited sky. The bean stalk represents the latter we need to climb to be successful go the thing we love in life. We got to the top and found golden eggs all over the place. Those golden eggs represent recognition, fame, power, fortune, etc. It doesn’t matter what it represents to you, as long it’s something you want. The things that you want in life does not need to hurt but to heal. Jack to escape with the goose but the giant came to running after him. In this part, the interpretation gets a little tricky. The giant cans represent other people or hardships that cross your path, which make Jack(us) the victim or Jack represent the people who try to take away our success from the giant(us). Jack is a riding coat-tail to the giant. He is claiming credits to the things that you did. The ending of the story is when Jack comes home. To me, the ending reminds me of “who’s in and who’s out.” It’s up to the giant to decide to keep moving forward.
So, I hope my blog will be successful as much as yours. ☺

When and Why
When I though about making my blog? It began when I been looking through career clusters. Since I was little, I always wanted to work in the fashion field. My main toys were fashion-related things such as fashion sketchbooks, DIYs, this, sewing Barbie’s clothes etc. I even beg my mom to teach me how to sew. In public places, I always look at what other people are wearing from such a young age. As I grew older, I wanted to study fashion design but my parents told me to think of a more “realistic” career. So, I decided major in Journalism. I read articles nonstop to learn how famous editors and fashion critics make it big and I was taking notes. So to able to work in the fashion industry as a fashion journalist, I need to make my own “portfolio.” I need to show my knowledge of the fashion world, so what better place than WordPress!
I know this blog started as an unprofessional look and not full material. I want my blog to represent of how much I grew and learned over the years of managing this blog. I want to show that I can learned from my mistakes and people can see the evolution of this blog.
Who manage this blog exactly? I also ask this question to myself sometimes.
Who is this person who created this blog?
A fashionista by birth who want to help people while still doing the things that she love.
Who is this fashionista?
A fashionista who dream big and hope someday use her fame to help others, from hunger to equality.
Who is this dreamer?
A dreamer who live by Walt Disney quote everyday.
Who is Walt Disney?
A dreamer who construct his heart’s dream through passion.
But WHO is the founder of this blog?
Just like Sia.
Well, I hope you enjoy this!
